These stunning hand fans are made of Toquilla palm by women artisans from Sandon, a small town tucked in the mountains of Southern Colombia. Using a traditional technique, the process begins by obtaining the threads from the leaves of the Toquilla, which are then dyed and interwoven to create beautiful and intricate pieces that are the ultimate expression of the regions culture and identity. For decades, artisan communities in the region have preserved this art of weaving Toquilla palm, and it currently constitutes their main source of income.
